Nicholas Harmer’s expertise is in enzymology, structural biology, and synthetic biology. He has over 20 years’ experience in protein science. He has determined enzymatic activities for a wide range of proteins from both eukaryotic and bacterial sources and has built assays suitable for high throughput automation. His structural work is primarily crystallographic, and he is developing methods to use the novel micro-electron diffraction method in Exeter. He has particular interests in building novel enzyme cascades, both in vitro and in vivo, and in glycobiology.
